St John’s is a vibrant, charismatic evangelical Anglican church in the heart of the community in Fareham. We are a group of people passionate about following Jesus, learning from his word, and knowing the touch of his Holy Spirit.
We have a range of styles of services from more formal services to highly interactive services with discussion groups, prayer groups, drama, and art. Our hope is that these services will help us to worship God in exciting and creative ways, as well as more traditional ways, and explore what it means to be a Christian in today’s world.
Vision and Values
St John’s is a church committed to both Word and Spirit, and we feel called to be:
- Loving Jesus and others,
- Growing committed and equipped disciples, and
- Overflowing into Fareham by mission and planting.
What are the implications for us moving forwards
Loving by:
Our loving is beyond a nice sentiment, as we seek to be pilgrims of The Way in three distinct directions: up, in and out.
- Up: Loving God through worship
- In: Loving each other through nurturing relationships
- Out: Loving our community through serving and outreach
Growing by:
Living things naturally grow. So we expect to see new life and growth in our vibrant community and will actively seek to facilitate this through:
- Excelling in welcome
- Training and teaching the things of the Spirit
- Discipling each other through joining in with small groups
Overflowing by:
We feel a specific call to be a missional church-planting church, with new ventures envisaged over the next few years at St Peter & St Pauls and in Welborne Garden Village. We are committed to: ·
- Church Planting
- Constantly turning outwards
- Engaging with Schools
- Supporting causes beyond ourselves
The key priorities for us at St John’s in 2026 are:
- Stepping into spirit filled worship and ministry
We intend to establish the ministry of the Holy Spirit as integral to our gatherings - Growing our 10.30am service for families
We will seek to turn our increasing support for families into meaningful growth - Developing engaged and missional discipleship
We will run an Alpha course to re-launch discipleship small groups.
Our Beliefs
We believe in Jesus, in the Bible as the word of God, in the work of the holy Spirit, and in God’s love is for everyone who seeks it. We say the creed together and believe it.
As a church, we think that everyone is important. We aim to be accessible to all sorts of people and seek to be a community who care for, support, and serve each other.
We believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to hear about the Kingdom of God, the good news of Jesus Christ.
